Tibetan Toll has Risen to 140

Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh)
Around 140 people have been killed in the anti-China protests in Tibet, an official of the Tibetan government-in-exile said here Monday.

"While the most recent death toll from the demonstrations in Tibet is around 140, we are releasing the names and details of 40 identified people as well," said the official of the Tibetan government-in-exile - not recognised by any country - based in this north Indian town.

It had put the toll 99 in the weekend, while the Chinese government has said 19 people have been killed.

The anti-China protests gathered momentum after Tibet's 49th uprising day March 10.

The Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, Sunday reiterated in New Delhi that he was in favour of the Beijing Olympics to be held later this year.
