Tata Indicom Launches 'Free Call Service'

Kolkata
Tata Indicom Thursday launched Freedom Call Voucher, offering free and unlimited outgoing calls within its own network with a Rs.150 bonus talk time for other calls in Kolkata circle.

Available at Rs.325 for a period of 30 days, the scheme, applicable for both fixed and mobile phones, also offers rates of Rs.0.49 and Rs.0.99 per minute respectively for calling to local mobiles and local fixed lines of other service providers.

"This plan will be suitable for heavy users, who can form their communities to get maximum value from this offer," Tata Teleservices COO of Kolkata circle Abhijit Pal said.

Claiming that Tata Indicom was the first mobile service provider in the country to offer free unlimited local own network calls, Pal said the service had been launched in all circles.

He said Tata Indicom was the fastest growing mobile operator in the country, having claimed 13 percent market share in just two years and almost reached the one million mark in Kolkata out of a total subscriber base of 16 million across the country.

"The pre-paid mobile segment constitutes 92 percent of incremental mobile market share, and we are certain that this initiative will help us further increase revenues and consolidate Tata Indicom's market leadership," he said.

The company also introduced a range of low cost colour handsets on the occasion.
