43 % Voting in Delhi Poll,
Re-polling in 10 Booths
About 43 percent of the 9.9 million
voters in the Indian capital voted Thursday to pick a new civic body in a
contest of prestige between the ruling Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
with officials ordering re-polling Friday in 10 booths.

capital of natural gas thanks to the Krishna Godavari (KG) basin, Union Minister

The Allahabad High Court Thursday ruled that Muslims were not entitled to be

Restrictions on SEZ
Approvals Lifted, 83 Proposals Cleared
Notwithstanding violent protests against some Special Economic Zones (SEZ)
projects, the government Thursday lifted restrictions on approving new SEZs and
cleared 83 pending proposals. The empowered group of ministers (EGoM), which met
to clear the SEZ proposals that were on hold, also put an end to compulsory land
acquisition by state governments and limited the size of SEZs to 5,000 hectares.

Complete Reform of Indian Cricket

The BCCI has the dubious distinction of being the only full member
of the International Cricket Council (ICC) which does not have a
website. This, in the 21st century in the home of computer software,
is a shocking commentary on the administration that's engaged in
running cricket in India. Coach Greg Chappell may have become the
fall guy in the wake of India's disastrous showing in the World Cup,
the best replacement money can buy can be recruited, younger players
can be phased in and older players phased out; but there will be no
material change without a complete reform of Indian cricket.
