Azad Invites Separatists
to Join the Kashmir Roundtable

The Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Saturday
announced that government was ready to talk to leaders of the armed
groups provided they abjure violence.
Talking to newsmen here Saturday, the chief minister while
emphasizing significance of third roundtable conference scheduled to
be held at New Delhi on April 24, appealed to all shades of opinion
including Hurriyat Conference to take best advantage of the
opportunity, history has provided.
"Be part of unified approach initiated to settle all issues amicably
and jointly across the table", he added.
Azad said that peace is imperative for development and violence has
inflicted upon unprecedented loss to human lives and public property
in the state.
"Thousands of people have been killed, women rendered widows,
children orphan and destitute during the militancy period. We have
to work together to re-build the state and rehabilitate large number
of affected besides carrying forward development process with
determination", he said.
He said third roundtable conference will discuss the recommendations
of four working groups on confidence building across segments of
society in the state, strengthening relations across line of
control, economic development in the state and good-governance as
also matters pertaining to the fifth group on strengthening of
centre-state relations.
The chief minister said that government is ready to talk to Hizbul
Mujaheedin chief, Syed Salah-ud-Din or any other person if they
abjure gun.
"Abjure violence and shun the gun, we are ready to talk to you",
Azad said.
