Moenchengladbach head for relegation

Moenchengladbach (Germany)
Borussia Moenchengladbach's relegation fate is all but sealed after they were beaten 1-0 by SV Hamburg in a Bundesliga match, thanks to a last-minute goal by Paolo Guerrero.

Guerrero broke the hearts of a 54,067-strong home crowd at Borussia Park - the club's first sold-out game of the season. With five games left and six points below safety, players acknowledged that relegation was now pretty much assured.

"It is now very, very tough," said German national team player Oliver Neuville. "We now have to win all of the last five games."

For Hamburg, the win catapults them from 12th to seventh place and frees them of relegation fears for the time being. Hamburg is tied with four other teams on 35 points but has the better goal difference.

Borussia had control of the ball for most of Friday's encounter as Hamburg played a defensive game. But the team with a league-worst 22 goals on the season lacked finishing.
