'Nehla Pe Dehla' Disappoints

by
Meghna Menon

Album: "Nehle Pe Dehla"
Label: T-series
Music Directors: Anand Raj Anand, Daboo Malik, Himesh Reshammiya, Pritam, Nitin Shankar, Nikhil-Vinay and DJ Suketu
Singers: Abhijeet, Vinod Rathod, Sunidhi Chauhan, Jaspinder Narula, Shaan and Himesh Reshammiya
Ratings: *1/2

Unimpressive! "Nehla Pe Dehla", a comedy starring Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu and Kim Sharma, has a collection of 10 tracks and one remix but none of them are worth listening.

Going through the entire album, produced by T Series, makes you think that the director must be regretting his choice of music directors he took on board.

The disappointment begins with "Bottle mein main". The song with terrible vocals, bad music and meaningless lyrics leaves you irritated.

"Dil naiyyo mane re", a typical Himesh Reshammiya number, has the 'nasal' singer along with his favourite Tulsi Kumar on vocals. It's no surprise that this song doesn't appeal owing to the fact that Reshammiya's magic is fading now.

Even lyricist Sameer disappoints. Repetition of "Dil naiyyo mane re" gets to your head and you take a sigh of relief when the song finally ends.

Zubin Garg of the "Ya Ali" fame croons "Hoga hoga khuda gawah". Directed by DJ Suketu, the track can't be called a super hit, but it still manages to be a silver lining in the entire album.

Sung by Shaan and Jaspinder Narula, "Husn husn" is a song that instantly reminds you of "Akhiyon se goli maare". It is yet another disappointment.

And joining the league is "Imaan Dol Jayega", in which Sunidhi does a bad job while Vinod Rathod's involvement was not required at all.

Crooned by Mika, "Neele Neele ankhon wali" is a number that the audiences wouldn't care to listen to even once. The Anand Raj Anand-Dev Kohli team hits a hat trick of unsuccessful endeavours with this song.

"Nehle pe dehla", sung by Shaan, too could be termed as another saving grace in the album, though again not a complete hit.

"Parvar Digara" by Tulsi and Himesh is again an average number, but it gets your feet tapping. Composer duo Nikhil-Vinay have done a forgettable job in "Shararati".

The soundtrack of "Nehle Pe Dehla" concludes with a remix of "Parvar digara", which doesn't prove to be better than the original despite its faster beats.

The film could have actually done well without a soundtrack. It is an album to be steered clear of and not recommendable to music buffs.
